Meet Dory
As a small business owner, School Board member, and community organizer, Dory Waxman has found solutions to our toughest challenges and worked to move Portland forward. In 1992, she founded Casco Bay Wool Works, a successful clothing manufacturing, mail order and retail company that she ran in the Old Port for 12 years. During that time, she also served on the School Committee. Dory was known as a consensus builder with a deep commitment to involving the community in the challenges facing our schools. In her later work as the Bayside Neighborhood Community Organizer, she focused on building community through children's programs and neighborhood crime watches. She now has her own community relations business.
